Captured in September 2021 in the remote southern highlands of Iceland, "Alien Mountain" depicts Lómagnúpur—a colossal cliff that rises abruptly from the surrounding plains, commanding the landscape with quiet, almost primordial authority. Isolated and monumental, the mountain stands as a natural monolith, shaped by time, ice, and relentless North Atlantic weather.
Lómagnúpur is known for a rare atmospheric phenomenon that lends the mountain its unmistakable character. Its sheer mass draws in low-lying clouds, which begin to circulate and wrap around its upper slopes in slow, hypnotic motion. When light, weather, and timing align perfectly, the cloud layer becomes visually detached from the surrounding environment—its tones, density, and movement forming a distinct, rotating veil.
